Setoaba Family History & Genealogy
Setoaba Last Name History & Origin
AddHistory
Tikedi Setoaba was born in the early 1890 and had 4 wives, the forth one being my grandmother Madibe Athalia "Fera" Setoaba nee Mongalo.
Name Origin
Originally Setoaba which some like me spell it as "Setwaba" means - Legapu leo le lahlegetsweng ke mmago lona. (Watermelon that has lost their mother).
In the old days people used situations and circumstances to name themselves, in the Setoaba case, my grandfather who left the area of waterberg in the then Potgietersrus in Limpopo with his sister which is the only known relative of the late Tikedi Setoaba, heading to a small village called Ga - Mashalane in the Bochum area where he was given a huge plot that was later to be called "Ga Setoaba" brings me to conclude that the two siblings lost their mother and decided to leave waterberg, found themselves wondering around until they stumble on the grounds of Ga Mashalane which they made it their home.
