This was former the Kingdom of Prussia : Oberschlesien Today it is Poland : It belonged to Poland after Germany lost the I. WW. 1921 it was part of Poland.   [external link] After 1939 it was occupied from Germany up to 1945. Before 1921 it belonged to the Kindom of Prussia. So most the time it was German. But people from there spoke German - Polish and their own Silesian - Polish  language. Soweit zu erkennen ist, waren alle Skroch-Familien einst im Poppelauer Forst (nordwestlich von Oppeln) beheimatet. Hier findet man Träger des NamensS k r o c h ab 1702 weit verbreitet in Döbern, ab 1734 weit verbreitet in Alt Schalkowitz (später wohl Alt Schalkendorf genannt), ab 1764 in Chroscutz (vor 1945 Rutenau genannt), ab 1770 weit verbreitet in Falkowitz (vor 1945 Falkendorf genannt), ab 1826 in Hirschfelde, ab 1836 weit verbreitet in Alt Poppelau und 1843 in Sacken usw. Wort šrok -> Kiefer.Der Name steht also für jemanden, der an einer aufälligen Kiefer lebte.2.) sorb. sroka -> Elster; Spitzname für jemanden der eigenschaften wie die Elster besaß.der Name Skroch  soll den Ursprung in Norwegen oder Schweden haben, so hat es meine Großtante früher erzählt.Im schwedischen würde Skrock=Aberglaube heißen. Allerdings mit k am Ende geschrieben. Ich denke dass sich früher die schreibweise des Namens geändert hat.
