Eli Townsend Steadman
Eli Townsend Steadman entered military service (Civil War) on June 9, 1861. Company G, Texas Regiment, Hood Brigade in Lee's Army. Assigned to the infantry, Regular army. Listed as six feet three inches tall, fair complexion, grey eyes, twenty years old. He was a gunsmith when inlisted. He was wounded on the last day of the "7 Day Battle" just below Richmond, Virginia. He was discharged September 29, 1862. Information from confederate certificate #626, survey 1.

Eli parents were George Pemberton Steadman and Martha Steadman, who were farmers.

Francis Parker came to Houston County, Texas in the late 1850's and encouraged his father and large family to follow him.The Parker family and others in the community built a Methodist church know as "Woodland Hall". Rev. Parker was called an "Exorter" in the church and he is recorded as a lay preacher present at the first Quarterly Conference at the Elkhart Church, Anderson County, Texas. He married Zilpha Ann Overstreet May 25 1866 in Houston County, Texas. Rev. Francis Parker died Jan 09 1913 in Houston County, Texas and is buried in Parker Cemetery, Grapeland, Houston County, Texas
