This photo is of class 565 at Miramar Naval Base in California. The class started in December 1947 (or that is when my father entered the Navy). The far right side of the photo is missing a few people because our scanner could not scan all of this large photo. My father, Edward Osmond Crowell, Jr. was born November 10, 1928 in Russellville, Franklin County, Alabama. He died November 17, 1975 in Town Creek, Lawrence County, Alabama from complications of diabetes. He entered the Navy on December 7, 1947 and retired as a Disabled Veteran in 1950. He is on the back row, third from the left.

This is my father's maternal grandmother (my great grandmother). Mary Florence Fisher (called Florence) was born September 15, 1890 in or near Russellville, Franklin County, Alabama to William Huston "Bud" Fisher and Caladonia Laura Yocum Fisher. She married Drewey G. James in Russellville, Alabama about 1905. She passed away June 1982.

Thomas Henry Manley (10 November 1872 - 26 July 1954) and Ida Greeley Belle McGregor Manley (15 April 1875 - 28 April 1963) lived with their daughter, Beatrice Novella Manley Key, and son-in-law, Ralph Benford Key on Hwy. 20 in Town Creek, Alabama. The Manley surname has been spelled Manly in some records. Most of the family feels that Manley is the correct spelling of the name for this family.

This is a photo of the Mountain Home School (or so the back of the photo says) which was located somewhere in Lawrence County, Alabama. It may have been somewhere near Mt. Hope? Beatrice Manley (back far right and soon to be married to Ralph Benford Key) taught at the one-room schoolhouse. I do not know who any of the students are photo. If anyone knows please let me know!

Probably taken in Rockwood, Franklin County, Alabama. Left to right: small child and man behind him are unknown, but it has been suggested that the child might be William "Bill" Crowell son of James A. Crowell (my great grandfather), next to unknown man is Walter Crowell (b. abt. 1883), William Roger Crowell (b. 12 March 1877, d. 29 October 1957), Colson "Coley" Crowell (my 3rd great grandfather and Civil War Veteran b. 14 February 1819, d. 5 November 1911), Isom A. Wood (related to Annie Crowell Wood's husband), John K. Wood (Annie Crowell Wood's husband, b. abt. 1885), Cossie Wood and Bynum Wood are both related to Annie Crowell Wood's husband. Walter and William Roger Crowell along with Annie Crowell and James A. Crowell were the sons and daughter of Mary Jane Crowell and James Barton. Colson "Coley" Crowell was the father of Mary Jane Crowell and grandfather of Walter and William Roger Crowell in the photo.

Joni Collopy Pamela, where did your Charles Haygood Barton live or where was he from originally. A member of my Barton family married a Watts but our Watts was a man, so I don't know if there is any connection. My Bartons were from Franklin/Colbert County, Alabama.
