Mary Augusta Quick Tanner, widow of Cyrus Tanner who fought in the civil war, was injured, and struck with amnesia. He was discharged and took up work in Iowa, where he was injured. He spent the rest of his life working and not knowing who he was. His widow only found out what happened to him after the military pension people came to see her.
