Ireland Universalist Church, Indiana
Ireland Universalist Church, Connersville Indiana: This church was bought by my grandparents Louis and Kathryn Brown from a Mrs. Dale in Jackson Township, Fayette County, IN in the late 1930s. My dad,Charles Brown, later sold it after years of using it for farm equipment storage. Located on Bentley Road in southeast Fayette County. A DAR marker is at the location of the church. Among the leaders of this church was Milton Trusler, a farmer in the area who was credited also for the idea of rural free delivery. There is also a DAR marker at this regarding the same, erected by the insistence of my grandmother who was historian for the John Conner Chapter of DAR for many years. In the history of Fayette County, IN 1917 it states Mr. Trusler would often invite the entire congregation of this church to take dinner with him on Sundays when regular church serves were held, and not uncommon for many of the members to accept his hospitality. Something unique about this church was that the minister was paid for his services before he left the building each Sunday. It was the only congregation in the county that paid for on the spot money for services rendered. See History of Fayette County 1917 book for further details.
