This crew died in March, 1945, when their Grumman Avenger aircraft went down in rough seas somewhere in the South Pacific. My uncle is on the far right of the trio. "Fitz" was from Chicago; Chumbris and Hill were from Texas.

This is Cpl.(later Sgt.) Charles Homer 'Red' Hill from Dallas, Texas, taken in Sydney, Australia. He was a radio gunner who died in March, 1945, when his plane went down in the South Pacific. He was survived by parents Mr. & Mrs. W.F.Hill 606 Sunset Street, Dallas, according to NARA records.

Patrick F.Fitzgibbon, grocer and saloonkeeper, seated in a horse-drawn wagon in front of his business establishment, 1201 Erie, Logansport, Indiana, circa 1905. Amazingly, the building is still there looking much the same as almost a century ago.

Martin Ryan, 1905
Martin Ryan (seen here in 1905) was the son of Patrick Ryan and Catherine (Foley) Ryan. He was born in Chicago, IL, in 1879. He was the older brother of my grandmother. Martin's whereabouts were a family mystery until I found that he had died in 1932, and buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Elgin IL.
