William Halliday, 1797
This is a photo of William Halliday that I took of a painting that is in the possession of the Sykes Family in Chicago, IL. No one is sure who this this man is. On the back it is written: William Halliday 1797. We do have Halliday in our family.

My Grandfather, Aubrey Luse Sykes, was married to Anna Ruth Swallow, daughter of Thomas Swallow b. 1844 & Anna Halliday b. 1858. Anna's father's name was William Halliday b. unknown. Maybe this is his grandfather. The time frame would work...

If anyone knows who this man is please message me.

CHRISTENSON Family
CHRISTENSON Family
I’ve “rescued” an old photograph of Tom CHRISTENSON and his family which was taken at the M. F. Carlson Studio in Sycamore, IL. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900’s with Tom and his wife likely in their 30’s to 50’s at the time and the four children ranging in age from about 8 years to teens at the time including 3 boys and 1 girl, the youngest is a boy. The others are too close in age to tell their birth order. I’m hoping to locate someone from this CHRISTENSON family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of family.
If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley

James Garner, actor
James Garner, actor
A photo of James Scott Bumgarner (James Garner) born April 7, 1928, taken in the 1950's. He was born in Norman, Oklahoma, the youngest of 3 boys. His mother died when he was 5 and he and his brothers went to live with relatives until his father remarried. His relationship with his step-mother was rocky at best, and her actions led to a divorce by his father.

He joined the Army during the Korean War and won a Purple Heart during that conflict. After the war, he turned to acting, legally changing his name to "Garner".

He is probably best known to Baby Boomers as Bret Maverick on "Maverick" and Jim Rockford in "The Rockford Files". My favorite movie role of his was in "Support Your Local Gunfighter" - he was good looking and funny!

James Garner died on July 19, 2014 in Brentwood Hollywood of natural causes. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Uncle Halliday
Uncle Halliday
This is a cropped face from a photo in which there is a young woman my maternal great-grandmother, Maria Estelle Williams. On the back is written 'Uncle Halliday'. They are both mysteries to the family as to their families, etc. She was said to have come from 'out West', which in 1853 when she was born could have been anywhere west of New York State. It is possible that she was born in CT though. On her married licence it states that she was 'from Rome (or Rouse) NY'. Handwriting very bad. Where he comes from is a total mystery.

Does anyone know anything about him?
