This is James R. Smiley (1847-1939). He was born at Shelbyville, Bedford County, Tennessee and died at Kankakee, Illinois. He is buried in Mound Grove Cemetery, Kankakee, Il. He was a farmer and dairyman and manager of the Pure Milk Co. in Kankakee, IL. He married Julia E. Virginia McElroy in Kankakee March 11, 1875. They had 8 children: Ida M., John Allison Smiley, John Robert, Jr, Mable, Lee Moore,Alice Adeline, Earl and May.

This is Lula Peck (1886-1966). She married Edgar Moore Smiley in 1906 in Kankakee, Illinois and they had three children: Edgar Hiram, Lee M. and Esther Mae. Both Lee and Ester died in childhood. She ran a boarding house for working men for years and was a master cook. Both she and husband Edgar died in Chicago Heights, Illinois and are buried in Oaklawn Cemetery, Chicago.

Fredrick William Huse born in Bauster, Germany Oct. 1838, Died in Kankakee Illinois Nov. 26, 1926. Buried Mound Grove Cemetery lot 18NE55. Married Charlotte Marie Tiede (1841-1916) about 1865. They had 8 children, Fred Charles, Charlotte Marie, George A., Louis william, Emma S., Rachel and Minnie. Fred was a lime burner and laborer.

Albert Rudolph Krueger(1/24/1894-1922)was a combat veteran in the First World War. He was killed in a mine accident in Springfield, Illinois. He married Emma Schuster in Riverton, Illinois. He fathered one child, Earl Alvin Krueger.

Ferdinand George Huse (2-2-1911-10/17/1966). He was a wounded veteran of World War II. He lost his right arm and leg in the war in Germany in 1944. He served in the HQ co., 499 Armoured Field Artillary Btn. Herecieved the Bronze Star for valor and the Purple Heart.
