    Charlie was the youngest of 7 children of Italian immigrants living in northern New Jersey. His parents' names were Maria Friezo Marcellis and Anthony W. Marcellis. He was an out gay man, the first of the family to be openly LGBTQ. He was a soft-spoken person known for his kind, thoughtful, and charming personality and was beloved by many. Charlie lived in San Diego as an adult. He passed away in 1991 due to complications from HIV-AIDS and is buried with his mother in Saint Vincent Cemetery in Madison, NJ.
