    Tasmanian News, Hobart. 26th October 1899. OBITUARY. ALDERMAN ABRAHAM BARRETT. Launceston, October 26th. Alderman Abraham Barrett died this morning at his residence, Elphin road. Deceased was a native of Tasmania, and about 68 years of age. He kept a school for many years in Launceston, at which a number of men holding leading positions in the commercial world in various parts of Australasia, we're educated. He was elected to the City Council in the early sixties, and became Mayor of Launceston in 1863. Subsequently he went to Dunedin, where he was headmaster of a large school. He returned to Launceston about seven years ago, and shortly afterwards was elected to City Council as spokesman of the Reform Party. The deceased was a prominent Freemason and an ardent Shakespearian scholar, having played "Hamlet," "Macbeth," and Othello in Dunedin, Latterly he started a school in Launceston, and was in sound health up to some weeks ago, when he was attacked by influenza . A widow and family of five - three sons and two daughters survive. Two of the sons reside in Tasmania, Mr. Joseph Barrett on the North-West Coast, and Mr. A. H. Barrett in Launceston.

I believe I have Abraham Barretts original bible. Wife is Ann Eliza Barrett. Married at Johns Church Lancaster 8th May 1855 according to the hand written in the bible.
