Adda, Samuel, Nancy & Martha Purdum circa 1910 in Macomb, Illinois: Pictured are Adda Viola Purdum Provine, Samuel Elliot (El) Purdum, Nancy Margaret Purdum Cale, and Martha Ann Purdum Moore, the four children of Abraham Purdum (Purdam) & Mary Ann (Foster), of McDonough Co, IL. Abraham died in 1863 in the US Civil War (84th Reg. IL Inf.) at the Battle of Stones River in Tennessee. Mary Ann re-married Edmund Avery in 1867, but she died in 1868, and the four children were placed under guardianship, guardian Joseph Updegraff and later Margaret Sullivan.
