In 1861, in the year that Annie Dehn was born, on March 4th, Abraham Lincoln became the 16th President of the United States. Winning by a plurality of the popular vote, 39.8% - there were many candidates, Douglas was the strongest - he decisively won the electoral college with 180 votes. He was the first President to emerge from the newly created Republican Party.

In 1871, when she was only 10 years old, on July 20th, British Columbia became the 6th province of Canada. While Vancouver is the largest city in British Columbia, Victoria was chosen as the capital..

In 1877, Annie was 16 years old when on March 2nd, the U.S. presidential election of 1876 was ended with the selection of Rutherford B. Hayes as the winner. Samuel J. Tilden had won the popular vote in November 1876 but 20 votes in the electoral college were in dispute. An informal agreement was made in which Hayes agreed to remove federal troops from South Carolina, Florida, and Louisiana, ending Reconstruction in the South. So, on March 4th, Rutherford B. Hayes became the 19th President of the United States.

In 1883, when she was 22 years old, on July 4th, the first rodeo in the world was held in Pecos, Texas - according to its citizens. In the towns of Prescott and Payson Arizona, the same claim is made. All of these were gatherings of local cowboys, showing off their skills - no matter who was first.

In 1894, in the year of Annie Dehn's passing, on March 12th, for the first time, Coca-Cola was sold in individual bottles as a drink for consumer consumption. Previously, it was sold as a syrup for upset stomachs - over the counter.
