1921 - Ben was just 5 years old when the silent film The Sheik, directed by George Melford and starring Rudolph Valentino and Agnes Ayres (also featuring Adolphe Menjou) debuted on October 21st. And Rudolph Valentino, an Italian American, became the heartthrob of a female generation.

1929 - At the age of merely 13 years old, Ben was alive when the St. Valentine's Day Massacre happened on February 14th. In Chicago, seven men from the North Side Irish gang were gunned down by Al Capone's South Side Italian gang at the garage at 2122 North Clark Street. It ended with Israel occupying the Sinai Peninsula, Golan Heights, Gaza Strip and West Bank.

1999 - In the year of Ben B Hartsfield's passing, the fear that Y2K (year 2000) would cause the failure of computers worldwide when clocks didn't properly update to January 1st, 2000 became near panic. While some computer systems and software did have problems, the panic was unfounded and computer life went on.
