Introduction

I am his first born daughter Brenda Jean Fogarty, born May 28, 1947. He had no sons. He married my mother, Alice Scott Eastham in 1947. He answered an ad in the paper to help her drive from Massachusetts to Tucson where I was born. They were divorced 2 1/2 years later due to his heavy drinking. Mom didn't want me to be brought up with an alcoholic like her father, Samuel Eastham, owner of the Portsmouth Ice and Coal. He was from Blackburn, England and married my grandmother Bertha Scott. I met my father once when I was 10 for a week and the last time when I was 32 when mom was dying in 1980. I contacted the Mormon church and they found him in Texas. He was going to Australia to live out his life. He stayed with me for 2 weeks and said goodbye to mom. He left and I never heard from him again. His sister, Pauline, (he was the youngest of 12 and this was his favorite sister) wrote to me in 1995 to tell me he had died in Australia several months earlier. She said I had a half sister, Linda from another marriage. I called her and we met but never stayed in touch. My father's mother was Rose Fogarty who lived for 103 years. I am glad I am here.
