Carrie Rebecca Charles passed away in 1959 in St Kilda, Australia at age 76. She was born in 1883. She was born to Lawson Alfred Charles and Cathleen Griffiths Charles.

In 1883, in the year that Carrie Rebecca Charles was born, on July 4th, the first rodeo in the world was held in Pecos, Texas - according to its citizens. In the towns of Prescott and Payson Arizona, the same claim is made. All of these were gatherings of local cowboys, showing off their skills - no matter who was first.

In 1906, by the time she was 23 years old, the great San Francisco earthquake hit, estimated at 7.8 on the Richter scale. The earthquake caused fires that raged for days and between the earthquake and the fire, about 3,000 people were killed and 80% of the City was destroyed.

In 1910, when she was 27 years old, Angel Island, which is in San Francisco Bay, became the immigration center for Asians entering U.S. It was often referred to as "The Ellis Island of the West". Due to restrictive laws against Chinese immigration, many immigrants spent years on the island.

In 1935, by the time she was 52 years old, on August 14, the Social Security Act was signed into law. The purpose was to "provide federal assistance to those unable to work". The law established the Social Security Administration whose primary focus was to "provide aid for the elderly, the unemployed, and children". The Act survived many Supreme Court challenges and the Administration continues until today.

In 1959, in the year of Carrie Rebecca Charles's passing, on August 8th, Hawaii became the 50th state of the United States. The US flag was changed to show 50 stars.
