He was in a relationship with Estelle Zella Lovett, and had children Nathan Glenn Mullins, Larry Daniel Mullins, and Theford Lee Mullins. Daniel Mullins died at age 88 years old on May 12, 2010, and was buried on May 15, 2010 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville.

    MULLINS, DANIEL LEE, born July 12, 1921 passed away on May 12, 2010. Daniel served in the Civil Service during World War II. He started with The Crippled Children's Clinic and was Co-founder of Orthopedic Appliance Company. He was former president of East End Optimist Club for 3 years and was a member of Birmingham Post-Polio Support Group and American Orthotic and Prosthetics Association. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Estelle Lovett Mullins; sons, Larry Mullins (Bonnie); Thedford Mullins (Diane) and Nathan Mullins (Nancy); grandchildren, Christina Mullins Poe, Bryan Mullins, Angela Mullins Hogeland, Michelle Mullins Sanchez, Nannette Mullins Beckner, Keith Mullins and Nicole Mullins Bunn; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Trudy Lawyer, Dot Staton, Rachel Odazier; brothers, Steve Mullins, Curtis Mullins and Clifton Mullins. Visitation will be held on Saturday beginning at 9:00 AM with Chapel services at 10:00 AM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Jim Beckner and Bryan Mullins officiating and burial to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cancer Society, Heart Society or United Cerebral Palsy. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
