Dewet was a friend of mine when we both lived in Chicago during the sixties. We met at the Swiss Club in Chicago and I enjoyed his company. I remember him driving a french car and smocking Gauloises (a french brand too). Dewet was quite different from American boys and he did not like the winterseason in Chicago. He left the windy City in 1962 for a trip to Latin America .
I returned myself to Europe in 1962 and the very last time Dewet and I met was in Zurich (Switzerland). He was then trying to build a career in Colombey (Switzerland) where he lived with his parents. We kept on corresponding with each other until I left Switzerland again, got married with a Frenchman and moved to Ivory Coast. I hope Dewet has had a nice life and am sad to learn that he passed away too young at the age of 72.
