In 1928, she was 21 years old when aviatrix Amelia Earhart, age 31, became the first woman to fly solo across North America and back in August. President Roosevelt approved of all of them and most them were implemented during his terms as President. She served until his death in 1945.

In 1987, when she was 80 years old, on October 19th, stock exchanges around the world crashed. Beginning in Hong Kong then spreading to Europe, the crash then hit the United States. It was called Black Monday. The Dow Jones fell 508 points to 1,738.74 (22.61%).
