    Dorothy was my mother. She was a kind, caring, lovely woman. She was a nurse she married my father Louis Lubcker in 1937. They had four Children. Dorothy, Marcella, Louis JR and Elizabeth. She had 7 siblings Elenor, Henrietta, Charles, Henry, Arthur, Marcella and Lillian.

In 1918, in the year that Dorothy Louise (Kienzle) Lubcker was born, on November 1, an elevated train on the Brooklyn line of the subway - driven by an inexperienced operator because of a strike - tried to navigate a turn at 30mph. The limit on the curve was 6 mph. The 2nd and 3rd cars of the 5 car wooden train were badly damaged and at least 93 people were killed, making it the deadliest crash in New York subway history.

Previously, the states regulated the offering and sales of stocks - called "blue sky" laws. They were largely ineffective. Roosevelt created a group (one member was Joseph Kennedy, father of the future President Kennedy) who knew Wall Street well and they defined the mission and operating mode for the SEC. The new organization had broad and stringent rules and oversight and restored public confidence in the stock market in the United States.
