Edwin Walter Tomkins was born in 1897 in Hinnomunjie, East Gippsland Shire County, VIC Australia to Edwin Tomkins and Esther Tomkins ( Collett, and had siblings Reginald Collett Tomkins, Alan William George Tomkins, Elizabeth May Raymond ( Tomkins, Herbert Thomas Tomkins, and Cecil Henry Tomkins. Edwin Tomkins died at age 20 years old on August 24, 1918 in France, and was buried at Australian National Memorial near Villers-Bretonneux Route de Villers Bretonneux, in Fouilloy, Somme County, Hauts-de-France.
