She married John Walter Steigenberger in 1899, and had children Elizabeth Matilda Steigenberger, William Edward George Steigenberger, Albert Ernest Steigenberger, Mary Jane Steigenberger, and Janet Steigenberger. Emily Steigenberger died at age 73 years old on July 7, 1954 in Camberwell, City of Boroondara County.
