John Nance Garner IV became the Vice-President in this election.

1959 - She was 47 years old when on August 8th, Hawaii became the 50th state of the United States. The US flag was changed to show 50 stars.

Her 17 year old daughter, Stephanie, was also in the car and suffered serious injuries but recovered. It's believed that the accident was caused when Princess Grace, who was driving, had a mild stroke.
