A photo of Frank Kroetch and grandson Daniel Pinna. The Missouri is on the right, a destroyer on the left. My father (Frank Kroetch) carrying my son (Daniel Pinna) when he was about 2 1/2 yrs old. My Dad was on a destroyer in WW2 (the Killen) and I love the generational/history feeling of this photo.
The Missouri was in Bremerton Washington when this was taken - where my mother grew up and where the Killen was first commissioned. My father was a plankholder, being on the Killen from commissioning to decommissioning in San Diego.

Us KILLEN KIDS get together from time to time! I don't know when this reunion was but my Dad, frank Kroetch went to the reunion in San Francisco California a couple of years before he died - circa 1999. He really enjoyed getting together with his old shipmates and I really enjoyed hearing all of the stories. Including the fact that my Dad always thought he was the youngest on the ship but another man (boy) was two months younger.

Frank Kroetch with Daniel Pinna, grandson, at his home in Edmonds Washington. Dad kept dressing him in a Seahawks shirt, I kept changing it to the Raiders - or, on occasion a 49'ers. Neither of us won - he's not a football fan to this day! Daniel grew up in California.
