Frank G. Ellis Photos

Dr. Frank Ellis Family, Lyndall, Laura, Frank, Dennis and Wiley. This photo was taken about 1906, judging from the age of Lyndall (seated on the ground). Lyndall was born in 1900 and appears to be about six in the photo. As always, her father is posing for the picture while the rest of the family looks on in abject boredom. God only knows how many different poses they were subjected to that day!

One of the Godforsaken places where my great grandparents, Dr. Frank Ellis and Laura Dickson Ellis, lived. Modern conveniences were almost unheard of back in those days in rural America. How he practiced medicine, I can't even imagine.

Dr. Frank Ellis, standing on left and my grandmother, Lyndall Ellis Maddux, at a picnic. I love how formal even a picnic was in those days.

Dr. Frank Ellis and his wife Laura Dickson Ellis: This photo was taken in 1919 and is one of my favorites of my great grandparents. It was taken somewhere in Kansas while he was serving as a surgeon in the US Army during WWI. Both of their sons were serving as well.

Frank G. Ellis and his brother Robert Greene. Taken in South Africa circa 1886: Frank, standing, and his brother were in South Africa. Frank had been sent there by his father after some trouble with the law. His brother came a little later. I love this picture because Frank was such a 'poser'.

A photo of Frank G. Ellis, taken at a photo shop in Cape Town, South Africa. Frank was sent to South Africa by his father after getting into some serious trouble in Kentucky. His father got him to New Orleans where he boarded a sailing ship bound for South Africa under an alias, Frank G. Ellis. His birth name was James Greene, son of Dr. Wiley Greene and Maggie Curran. He was a colorful person.
