Freeman Howe passed away on February 22, 1901 in New York United States at 54 years of age. He was born c. 1847. We have no information about Freeman's family.

In 1847, in the year that Freeman Howe was born, on May 7th, In Philadelphia, an association of physicians and medical students was founded - the American Medical Association or AMA. The association, the first of its kind, wanted to create uniform standards for medical training, education, and practices.

In 1865, Freeman was 18 years old when on September 26th, Champ Ferguson, a Confederate guerrilla, became the first person to be convicted of war crimes arising from the Civil War. (There was only one other person convicted of war crimes in the Civil War.) He was found guilty by a U.S. Army tribunal on 23 charges arising from the murder of 53 people. On October 20, he was hung.

In 1875, he was 28 years old when on February 18th, the Mason County War, also called the Hoodoo War, began. In central Texas, a German-American mob broke into a jail with a battering ram and lynched two suspected cattle rustlers. Thus began a year of vigilante "justice."

In 1890, Freeman was 43 years old when on October 9th, in Satory, France, the first fixed-wing, steam powered aircraft flew. "Ader √Čole" flew, uncontrolled, for about 160 ft. at a height of just under 8 inches off the ground.

In 1901, in the year of Freeman Howe's passing, Edward VII succeeded Queen Victoria. Queen Victoria of England had become Queen in 1837 and reigned until her death in 1901. Her 63 year reign was the longest in history prior to Elizabeth II who recently broke her record. The time during which she led the country was known as the Victorian era and she presided over great changes in the United Kingdom, including the expansion of the British Empire and the Industrial Revolution.
