In 1928, at the age of just 14 years old, George was alive when aviatrix Amelia Earhart, age 31, became the first woman to fly solo across North America and back in August. The North American flight became one of her many "firsts" as a female pilot.

He even has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. "What's up, Doc?"

In 1954, at the age of 40 years old, George was alive when from April 22 through June 17th, the Army v. McCarthy hearings were held. The Army allegations were found to be true. The U.S. Senate later censured McCarthy.
