George Vane Bowers of Nueces County, TX was born circa January 29, 1921 in Missouri United States. He married Erma Louise (Burton) on December 5, 1945 at Missouri and they later divorced in 1979. He would also marry Norma E. (Lynch) Bowers on November 19, 1981 in Nueces County, TX, and they were married until death separated them. George Bowers died at age 91 years old in January 2012.

    Dad served on the CV-10 USS YORKTOWN during WW II and fought against the Japanese all over the South Pacific. The Yorktown played a major role at Midway and Battle of Coral Sea where for the first time the United States won battles at sea turning the war in our favor.

In 1921, in the year that George v. Bowers was born, hugely popular Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle, silent film star, was arrested for rape and manslaughter after an actress died following a party at his house. He was acquitted after three trials and the jury wrote a formal letter apologizing for the charges, but his career never recovered. His films were at first banned - the ban was lifted after a year - and he was mostly ostracized by the community. He died at 46..
