Lynchings in Waco Texas and hundreds of African-Americans killed in East St. Louis Illinois had sparked the protest. Picket signs said "Mother, do lynchers go to heaven?" It became the most popular cartoon of its day.

1971 - In the year of Golden Mccrea's passing, in March, Intel shipped the first microprocessor to Busicom, a Japanese manufacturer of calculators.
