Nixon announced that he would resign on August 8th, the first President to do so.

1997 - In the year of Hazel L Padham's passing, on June 26th, the first Harry Potter book by J. K. Rowling was released. Rowling, at the time of the first book a poor single mother, has become a multi-billionaire.
