Helen Emma Rachel Pearson passed away in 1889 in Prahran, Australia at age 23. She was born in 1866 in Long Gully, Australia. She was born to Elizabeth Robertshaw Pearson, with sibling Dirk.

In 1866, in the year that Helen Emma Rachel Pearson was born, Swedish chemist, engineer, inventor, businessman, and philanthropist Alfred Nobel invented dynamite in Germany. During his lifetime he held 355 patents, of which dynamite was the most famous. He also established the Nobel Prizes in his will.

In 1870, Helen was merely 4 years old when on March 31st, Thomas Mundy Peterson was the first African-American male who voted in an election - a local election about the town charter. Peterson, a school principal, was also the first to hold elected office and the first to sit on a jury.

In 1871, by the time she was merely 5 years old, on March 29th, Royal Albert Hall in London was officially opened by Queen Victoria. Construction had begun in 1867 and the hall was named after Queen Victoria's husband, who had died in 1861 - 10 years before.

In 1889, in the year of Helen Emma Rachel Pearson's passing, on February 22nd, President Cleveland signed a bill allowing North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Washington to become states. North and South Dakota became the 39th and 40th states on November 2nd, Montana became the 41st state on November 8th, and Washington became the 42nd state on November 11th.
