Westinghouse, a leading manufacturer of radios and the backer of the station, chose the date because of the Presidential election. In 1963, by the time she was 43 years old, the British Secretary of War, 46 year old John Profumo ,was forced to resign when he lied about an affair with 19 year old Christine Keeler.
