John came to America on the ship Hannover under the name of Tony Koluski as his name has been unable to find on the ship list. He may have came on another ship or on another date or probably escaped from having to serve in the army for Austria. A story in the family is that John and Bertha found out they were on the same ship but didn't know until they met in America. They lived in Indiana and Michigan then came back to Ohio in about 1914. John and Bertha's family's pierogi had a filling of only mashed potatoes and cheese. You boiled the pierogi then pan fry them in butter and onion. A son in law, Fred "Bud" Cook was the first in the family to start pan frying them in bacon grease and onion. John later passed away on May 11, 1963 in Hamilton, Butler, Ohio, USA.
