Both territories allowed slavery but it caused contention within the territories.

In 1866, at the age of only 12 years old, Henry was alive when on April 10th, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - the ASPCA - was created. In 1887, at the age of 33 years old, Henry was alive when on May 9th, Buffalo Bill's Wild West show opened in London. Founded in 1883, the show was attended - twice - by Queen Victoria and adored by audiences who thrilled to his fanciful acts portraying life in the "Wild West."

In 1899, Henry was 45 years old when the meaning of Chinese "oracle bones" was rediscovered.
