Orndorff, born 1870 on June 29th, 1917 in Illinois and he had ten siblings: William, Harry, Henry, Mamie, Pearl, Opal, Nettie, Effie, Clement and Iva Rienbolt. On his World War II draft card, Howard described himself as being five feet eight inches tall and as weighing 140 pounds. He had gray eyes, brown hair, and a "sallow" complexion. He also also had an "extreme defect in vision" - he was virtually blind. Howard Rienbolt married Goldie Irene Nolan (1918 - 2004) in August of 1941. Both Howard and Goldie were blind and although they were college graduates, they had trouble finding appropriate work. See Working On Plan. While there was an effort in the 1940's, under FDR, to create meaningful work, it seems that later these efforts were dropped for decades. See Howard Reinbolt: Obituary.

Working On Plan
The Federal Security agency, at the direction of President Roosevelt, is now working out plans for this nation-wide expansion of the vocational rehabilitation program.

Mr. Knight's helper at the post office is Mrs. Howard Rienbolt, blind since the age of two, who is a graduate of MacMurray college in Jacksonville, and was unable to secure work.

Her husband, also a college graduate, and blind since birth, was turned down for employment and is now operating a concession in the WPA office building on Cerro Gordo Street.
