She was married to Robert Irwin Dezen in 1953 in Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland, and they were together until Robert's death on September 27, 2008 at Peace Healthcare at Lions Center 901 Seton Dr., in Cumberland. She had children Richard Brian Dezen, Edward Harry Dezen, and Barbara Louise Corwell. Irma Dezen died at age 93 years old on July 8, 2022 in Cumberland, Allegany County, and was buried on July 12, 2022 at Eastview Cemetery in Cumberland.

In 1928, in the year that Irma Gloria Dezen was born, Mickie Mouse was born! He first appeared in Disney's Steamboat Willie, along with Minnie. Although they were in two previous shorts, this was the first to be distributed. Steamboat Willie took advantage of the new technology and was a "talkie" - music was coordinated with the animation. It became the most popular cartoon of its day.

In 1931, Irma was merely 3 years old when on May 1st, the Empire State Building opened in New York City. At 1,454 feet (including the roof and antenna), it was the tallest building in the world until the World Trade Center's North Tower was built in 1970. (It is now the 34th tallest.) Opening at the beginning of the Great Depression, most of the offices in the Empire State Building remained unoccupied for years and the observation deck was an equal source of revenue and kept the building profitable.
