He attended Tarkio College before transferring to Southeast Missouri State University. In the 10 years he attended as a full-time student, he traveled as a cheerleader and for the fraternity he started. He finally received his License Practical Nursing degree after 10 years. He relocated to Texas shortly after his parents did. Nursing allowed him plenty of time off the travel and salsa dance. He combined the two and traveled to Brazil frequent, where he met his wife, Patricia Brooks, now 47 years old.
