James William Robert Taylor passed away on December 30, 1917. He was buried in Chatby Memorial, Egypt. We have no information about James's family or relationships.

In 1830, on March 26th, The Book of Mormon was published in Palmyra, New York by Joseph Smith, Jr. The full title was "The Book of Mormon: An Account Written by the Hand of Mormon upon Plates Taken from the Plates of Nephi". According to Smith, the angel Moroni appeared to him when he was 17 and told him where to find golden tablets that told the story of a people who migrated from Jerusalem to the Americas. He transcribed the tablets, which became the Book of Mormon.

In 1855, on June 29th, The Daily Telegraph began in London. The newspaper began as The Daily Telegraph and Courier and still has the reputation of being a quality paper.

In 1863, in January, British scientist John Tyndall proved the greenhouse effect - which had been widely theorized, but not proven, by scientists.

In 1890, on January 2nd, Alice Sanger became the first female staffer to work in the White House. She was hired as a stenographer and, as such, took dictation.

In 1917, in the year of James William Robert Taylor's passing, the U.S. Virgin Islands were purchased from Denmark in January. While they are U.S. citizens, Virgin Islanders are ineligible to vote for the President of the United States.
