Previously - since the 17th century - the term computer meant "one who computes" and referred to human beings who worked with numbers.

1907 - By the time he was only 10 years old, the showman Florenz Ziegfeld introduced his Ziegfeld Follies. Powers ejected and survived but was captured. The U.S. claimed that the U-2 was a "weather plane" but Powers was convicted in the Soviet Union of espionage. He was released in 1962 after 1 year, 9 months and 10 days in prison.

1964 - In the year of John Gill's passing, on February 9th, the Beatles appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show. 73 million people watched - although the Beatles couldn't be heard because of the loud screaming of the female teenage audience.
