3 Memories, Stories & Photos about John

SM Youth Found Dead - The Times, San Mateo CA January 8 1975
A 19-yr old despondent youth was found hanged in the bedroom of his home this morning by his mother.

The victim was identified as John Christopher Mooma, son of Mrs. Lyona Mooma of 151 Tenth Ave., San Mateo.

According to Deputy Coroner Robert Bergstrom, young Mooma had cut a hole in the ceiling of his bedroom to get a rope looped over a rafter and then slid a noose around his neck and either stepped off a stool or the bed and died.

His distraught mother told Investigating Officer Louis Del Grande she had last seen her son about midnight.

According to Deputy Coroner Bergstrom, young Mooma had been hospitalized at Belmont Hills Psychiatric Hospital last year because of severe depression and drug usage.
