Grandpa "Tata", John Sositko with some of his grandchildren. The grandchildren in the photo are Terry Cook, John "Johnny" Sositko, Robert "Bob" Sositko, Michaele Cook, Sherry Cook, and Gary Ridenour in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio. This photo was most likely taken in 1962. They were in the back yard of Joseph "Joe" Sositko's house. Terry, Michaele and Sherry were the daughters of Helen J. (Sositko) Henry Cook. Johnny and Bob were the sons of Joseph "Joe" Sositko. Gary was the son of Mary (Sositko) Ridenour. This photo was probably taken the same day as the photo of John Sositko with most of his children and their spouses. John Sositko died in 1963 at 81 years old. His granddaughter, Terry remembers that her grandfather liked music from the singer Bobby Vinton. He liked the song 'Roses Are Red (My Love)' and he would sing along with the song. She also remembers her grandfather singing along with the song Blue Velvet (or Blue on Blue) but he may have heard Bobby Vinton singing the song on TV or radio before the album was released because her grandfather died by May 1963. There is an audio tape from December 1962 (Christmas) of John Sositko talking (in English), singing Polish songs and Christmas songs in Polish on it. Robert Sositko was in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Back Row: Pauline (Guyler) Sositko, Mary (Sositko) Ridenour, Helen J. (Sositko) Cook, John Sositko, William "Bill" Harrison and Fred W. "Bud" Cook. The family surname of Sositko was shortened to Sitko for a short time in the 1930's. It's on some of the marriage records. Helen was first married to George Henry. Jennie was first married to Samuel "Sam" Cayse. This photo was most likely taken by Wilbur Ridenour (or one of John Sositko's grandchildren) and it was probably taken on the same day as the photo of John Sositko and his grandchildren from his children in this photo. Helen and Fred Cook's daughter, Terry remembers her parents and her aunts and uncles voting for John F Kennedy for President in 1960 and she remembers them staying awake all night on election night to see if he won the presidency. Helen worked at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio. She was the head cook. Mary and Jennie worked at the coffee shop at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio. Jan "John" and Bronislawa Rosalia "Bertha Rose" (Zlatykanicz) Sositko 'Susitko' in the 1930's or 1940's in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio. They were married in Hamilton, Ohio in December 1908 (between Christmas Day and New Year's Eve). John and Bertha were both born in Muszyna, Poland. John was born in 1882, the son of Stephen Susitko 'Stephanus Susidko' and Marianne Makowicz. Bertha was born in 1883, the daughter of Peter 'Piotr' 'Petrus' Zlatykanicz and Apolonia F. Chmielowska. John and Bertha were Catholic and they were members of St. Joseph's Parish in Hamilton, Ohio. They're buried in St. Stephen's cemetery. Several family members (descendants of four of their children) has this same exact picture of John and Bertha. I have a copy of an audio tape of John talking in English with family members and singing songs in Polish on Christmas Day, December 25, 1962. One of the songs he sings sounds like the Christmas song called Gloria in Excelsis Deo.
