St. James, Minn. -- Kenneth Allen Paul, 62, of St. James, died Monday, March 25, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System-St. James. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2 p.m., at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James with Rev. Ken Bowman officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, St. James. Family condolences may be sent online at www.sturmfh.com. Kenneth was born April 12, 1950, in St. James, the son of Leslie and Genevieve (Wolner) Paul. At age three, Kenny contracted scarlet fever, leaving him disabled. He, however, did not let that diminish his determination to be independent and to enjoy life. When he was 20 years old, he moved to his own place where he lived independently. He was able to obtain a drivers license and in the late 1980s, earned his GED. Ken enjoyed baking and cooking, collecting “things” like little owl figurines, Beatle’s music and plates. He enjoyed his daily gathering at the Band Box, swimming, puzzles and crafts. Kenny was always willing to try new things if they interested him. Kenny is survived by his siblings, Dorothy Hoeft of Worthington, Dick and Marian Paul of St. James, Jack Paul of Madelia, Gloria Smith of Sioux City, Iowa, Dianne and Art Meyenburg of Jackson and Peggy and Mike Wiese of North Mankato; special niece, Marcia Dubois of St. James; and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eileen Jablinske; brother, David Paul; and brothers-in-law, Clair Hoeft and Bud Smith.
