"Thank you for helping me find my family & friends again so many years after I lost them. I get the chance to remember them all this time later." Highlights of just a few of the many successes of sharing memories within the AncientFaces Community. From reuniting Lost & Found or 'orphan' photos with their families, seeing faces of relatives for the first time, to the many connections made with family & friends, and the profound discoveries about our loved ones and ancestors. Special moments like these are why it's important we share.

We Still Celebrate our Independence Day like we did in 1777
These photos show how we celebrated the 4th of July over the years. Take a look and it's likely you’ll find some good inspiration for when you're making preparations for next year. Relatively little has changed since the first 4th of July celebration in 1777: Fireworks, parades and "drunken revelry"! There are the parades in cities from Nome Alaska to New York City, neighborhood block parties, barbecues, family picnics, and baseball games . . . as well as, of course, fireworks - although it was mostly gunfire in the 18th century! Even the warnings about firecrackers haven't changed much as the 1910 Puck magazine photo demonstrates below which your pets and pet owners will appreciate.

13 Historical "Facts" You Thought You Knew
The truth about Daniel Boone's hat, a Vice Presidential candidate who pardoned a witch, living descendants of a pre-Civil War President, the last Civil War widow died in 2003. . . what we consider as historical facts often isn't true. Which of the following did you know and what surprises you? Did you know that toilets that flush date back to the 26th century BCE, but pre-sliced bread is less than a hundred years old?

Last Photos of the RMS Titanic
The last known photo taken of the RMS Titanic afloat foretells a tragic story. Over 100 years later, almost everyone knows what happened to this "unsinkable" ship. But when these photos were taken, no one could dream of the tragedy that would occur on their voyage. View the final photos of this majestic ship leaving Cobh (now Queenstown) Ireland on her way to New York. You can barely see the people on board, leaning over the railing - how many of them died 3 days later?
