1927 - When he was only 12 years old, aviator and media darling Charles Lindbergh, age 25, made the first successful solo TransAtlantic flight. Men between 21 and 36 were required to register with their draft boards. When World War II began, men between 18 and 45 were subject to service and men up to 65 were required to register.

1954 - Lamar was 39 years old when on May 17th, the Supreme Court released a decision on Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka. The ruling stated that state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students was unconstitutional thus paving the way for integration in schools.

After an exhaustive (and long) investigation it came to be believed that two individuals from Libya had planted the bomb.
