Did you know?
In 1911, in the year that Liberata M Bundalian was born, the Triangle Shirtwaist fire occurred, one of the deadliest industrial disasters in U.S. history. 146 workers (123 women and 23 men, many of them recent Jewish and Italian immigrants) died from the fire or by jumping to escape the fire and smoke. The garment factory was on the 8th, 9th, and 10th floors of a building in Greenwich Village in Manhattan. Doors to stairwells and exits had been locked in order to prevent workers from taking unauthorized breaks and to prevent theft, so they couldn't escape by normal means when the fire broke out. Due to the disaster, legislation was passed to protect sweatshop workers.

25 Photos of Native American History
These images provide us a glimpse into the Native American people and their way of life. Before European explorers arrived in North America, scholars believe that there were upwards of 50 million Native Americans living across all of the Americas. According to the U.S. Census Bureau there are 550 Federally recognized tribes, and only 4.5 million Native Americans remaining in the United States today. These proud people have a fascinating history that was almost completely lost. However, thanks to a handful of photographers we have these photos today to remember their way of life.
