Add Memories, Stories & Photos about Mac

Macario was born in Texas as a twin. His twin brother was named Arthur. We have been unable to locate his relatives. His mother abandoned the boys and their brothers when Macario was very young. His Grandmother raised him along with his father. His father worked a lot and did not have much of an impact on him. When Macario was 17 he lied about his age and volunteered to fight with the Army in WWI. He said he saw McArthur and Patton. His military brothers and he were paratroopers and he told me of their landing in the waters off the shores of Normandy. He said only about 120 men survived. He was quiet about the details. He never boasted about the mission. His military records were burned when one of the Governmental buildings harboring military records burned to the ground. He married Margarita Garcia in 1953 in Michigan City, IN. She came from Veracruz, Mexico as a Nanny. They had five children. Three girls and two boys. They all survive. One grandson passed in 2001,from liver disease. The disease is a genetic disorder stemming from Northern European background. It is called Alpha-one Anti-trypsyn dificiency. No one else in the family has the disease, but if they marry someone that has the recessive gene they will have a 25% chance of having a child with the disease. This disease generally affects the lungs. Macario has three living grandsons, and five living grand-daughters. He also has one living great-grandson.
