In 1809, by the time she was 31 years old, on December 30th, Boston Massachusetts banned the wearing of masks at balls. Boston was following many other places - including England - by banning masked balls, which were considered to contribute to loose morals. After all, with masks, you couldn't tell the class of the person or even their gender! The law was extended in 1849 and repealed in 1963.
In 1818, when she was 40 years old, on March 22nd, Easter Day fell on the earliest possible date in western Christianity. This won't happen again until 2285.
In 1828, she was 50 years old when on April 20th, French explorer René Caillié became the first non-Muslim to enter Timbuktu and to later return alive. He gave Europeans a first hand description of the city. He was awarded a prize of 10,000 francs for his trip - offered by the Société de Géographie.
In 1845, when she was 67 years old, on January 23rd, the US Congress created a uniform date for federal elections. From that date on, they were held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November - the date when Presidential elections are held currently.
