Madison ''Madi'' Claire Jaurigue,14 of Rutland, joined the angels in heaven Thursday,March 8,2012. She was surrounded by her family and the medical staff at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was born in Burlington,VT on April 27,1997,the daughter of Jeffrey Pozon Jaurigue and Debra Jean Poplawski. Although she was challenged with multiple surgeries to manage her hydrocephalus,Madi lived life to its fullest. She loved school with a passion and brought much laughter, joy and smiles to all who were blessed to meet her. She seemed to be wiser than her years and taught the simple importance of life courage, strength, perseverance, patience, hope and acceptance. In the face of those challenges,Madi always smiled, bringing joy to even the most difficult moments. When in the hospital she challenged every known medical fact, rewriting many of the textbooks with new, unknown symptoms and taught the doctors and nurses to look at Madi the person, not the condition. She touched the many lives of everyone she knew with her ''Madi Magic''. Each person walked a little lighter, smiled a bit brighter and cherished each moment more. Madi attended Rutland Middle School where she brought many laughts, smiles and joy to all who knew her. She is survived by her parents,Debra and Jeff Jaurigue of Rutland,VT;her maternal grandparents,Eugene and Barbara Poplawski of Mendon, VT;her paternal grandmother, Angelina P. Jaurigue,MD of Warrington,PA;many aunts, uncles and cousins who have been blessed to love her. She was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Venerando G. Jaurigue,MD. Madi's family would like to thank all the medical staff at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington,VT; Children's Hospital of Dartmouth in Lebanon,NH and Mass General Hospital in Boston,MA,for their dedicated and loving medical care they gave to Madi. Madi's memory will live through the Madison Claire Jaurigue Endowed Lectureship at UVM-College of Medicine and Fletcher Allen Health Care to present a lecture at Pediatric Grand Rounds and then spend a day consulting with the doctors, residents and medical students on patients, dealing with neurosurgical concerns. Additionally,Madi will have place of honor at the PEAK Lodge at Pico where her joy of skiing will be remembered by many. Visiting hours will be held Monday,March 12,2012, from 1:30 to 5:00 P.M. at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
