Marion Hunt Ingels 1907-2001 is a man not a woman.
• Marion Hunt Ingels was born on April 6, 1907, the 3rd of 11 children born to Daisy Ethel (Hunt) 1879-1938 and Frederick "Fred" Ingels 1877-1922. After his father died, Ingels joined the US Navy in 1923, at age 16, in order to help his Mother care for his younger siblings. He served over 26 years and is a Navy veteran of World War ll. Navy vessels he served on include U.S.S. Tuscaloosa, U.S.S. Vincennes and U.S.S. Enterprise.
After leaving the service, Ingels studied art at LaSerra College, Arlington, California and Indiana University extension. He graduated from Los Angeles County Art Institute. A member of the Art Association of Kokomo (Indiana), he taught art and gave demonstrations on different techniques.
Ingels was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church.
Ingels, age 93, passed away on March 17, 2002, at the U.S. Navel Home in Gulfport, Mississippi. He was buried in the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Section C-6, Site 974, Santa Nella, California.
