Introduction

Mary Ann was a daughter of Bertha (aka Lucy) Pilcher, who the first born of 13 children to Stephen Pilcher (1794-1865), born Wychling, Kent & died New Zealand and of Ann McPharlane (1790-1834). Bertha did not leave for NZ with her father in 1840. It was about then that she married, in Kent, to William Henry Jones. She died 11 May 1866 aged 48 in Victoria and was buried, at White Hills cemetery, near Bendigo Mary Ann married Edwin Frost in 1861 in Collingwood and had 10 children

FROST - On the 26th December, at Melbourne, Mary Ann, relict of the late Edwin Frost, eldest daughter of the late W. H. Jones, produce merchant, Bendigo, loving mother of Frederick (deceased), Charles (Tasmania), Bertha (Mrs Ness), Annie (Mrs McPherson), William (W.A.), Alice (Mrs Dallimore), Ellen (Mrs Short), aged 88½ years. Private interment. So he gives His beloved sleep.
